Trump’s health and human services secretary, Tom Price, has been in hot water for years for making false claims about Medicare and Medicaid.
Now, a top adviser to Trump’s transition team is taking the reins of one of the biggest federal health care programs.
The Washington Post first reported on Tuesday that former Trump campaign adviser David Urban was the top contender to lead the Office of Personnel Management, the department that oversees federal workers and contractors.
Urban has been criticized for his advocacy for Trump’s divisive policies and for repeatedly touting his business ties.
The Post first noted Urban was in line to be the next secretary of health and humans services, but it didn’t say whether Urban was considering a Cabinet position.
He has previously served in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and as a U.S. senator from Georgia.
The office oversees NASA, the U.N., the U, and the Office for Science and International Programs.
